Training FAQ

Q: What is the difference between a Mission Bridge School and Mission Bridge Workshop?
A: A Mission Bridge School is normally held in one location once a week for eight weeks. Class time is two and a half hours each night. There is greater opportunity for class discussion and processing principles learned over a longer period of time.

A Mission Bridge Workshop is normally held over a three day week-end for a youth group or already established adult team planning a mission trip. It is an excellent way to facilitate team bonding as well as focus on  character preparation.

Q:
How does a Mission Bridge Workshop work for a retreat setting?
A: For both new and mature Christians, it is an excellent way to bring people together to focus on how they can become more like Jesus by focusing on one or two topics (Nature & Character of God or Root & Fruit of Pride) in greater depth. There will be moments of revelation of truth.

Q: Can my church host a Mission Bridge School?
A: Yes! Simply contact Mission Bridge Ministries for available dates and times and to discuss your church’s special needs

Q: Do you go to Fiji, India  and Russia every year?
A: The best way to answer that question is, if God sends us there, we will go. Many times people will say, “I want to go with you next year.”  We prayerfully go where we believe God is sending us. In the future it could be Africa, the Middle East or down the block!

Q: How much does a Mission Bridge School cost?
A: Mission Bridge Schools cost $75 per student. That includes a workbook with many devotionals and writings from well known Christian writers that will enhance the understanding of principles taught.

Q: As a student in the Mission Bridge School, will I be required to do much homework?
A: We know most people have families, school and work responsibilities so their outside of class learning time is limited. We will provide many devotionals, topical articles by respected Christian authors and will suggest a few books to enhance the individual learning process. However, no there will be no required homework to hand in.

Q: How can I sign up to be a part of a Mission Bridge Missions Outreach?
A: You may sign up for an outreach, but acceptance is not automatic. We require all participants to be Mission Bridge School graduates. Also, there will be an extensive application and interview process. Each outreach has different needs, so people with different gifts will be invited for each one.

Q: How often do you have a Mission Bridge School?
A: We normally have a Mission Bridge School each fall. This is when people are beginning to prepare for summer outreaches for the following year. We then reserve the rest of the year for outreaches and workshops. However, we are always open to making changes as the Spirit of God leads. If your church or mission team is interested, please contact us at info@missionbridge.org.

Q: How often do you have a Mission Bridge Workshop?

A: Unlike Mission Bridge Schools, we do not schedule Mission Bridge Workshops. Those are scheduled by others contacting us and saying, “We have a team going to________ and need some training. When are you available to come?”

Q: Can I be a student in the Mission Bridge School if I am not going on a Mission Bridge or any other organization led outreach?
A: Absolutely! We often hear people say Mission Bridge is actually Christianity 101. If you read the testimonies on this web site, you will see that several former students  heard about Mission Bridge via word of mouth-- have not been freed up or had a desire to go on an outreach but wanted to learn how to apply God’s principles for living a godly life. On average, 20 percent of each class are not planning to go on a mission trip. However, we cannot be responsible for how God works in your heart once you begin to attend!

Q: Why would I want to be a student in the Mission Bridge School if I have no intention of going on a missions outreach?
A: There are several reasons. If your spouse is going on a mission trip and you aren’t, your spouse is going to be learning about different ways their character (and yours) manifests in life reactions, responses and experiences. It’s good to be on the same page and grow together.

If you want to learn how better to glorify God (make Him look good) as you live your life—Mission Bridge will give you the foundational understanding on the why’s and how’s to do that.

If you realize a mission field can be your home, school, neighborhood, family, work etc., attending a Mission Bridge school will give you insights and motivations on how to “be with” these folks lovingly.

Q: How old do you have to be to attend a Mission Bridge School or workshop?
A: In one class we had a home schooled 13 year old junior high student, a college professor, a pastor with 40 years of experience, several housewives, five professional musicians preparing to go on tour, three college students, a dentist, a baker…we were just lacking the candlestick maker!

Seriously, if a person is willing to have God work in their heart…age doesn’t matter.
