Outreaches
Outreach FAQ
Why go?
The primary reason we Go is very simply because God said… go into all the world and make disciples, and as an act of love, we want to be obedient to His call. We also go because there are so many people that think of the word “missionary” and have a belief they are not “spiritual” enough and could never be one of those Super Christians. After learning the foundational principles of God’s nature, character and love, Mission Bridge students soon realize they are not only capable of going and joining God in His work but are excited to put their new found principles and character attributes into practice!
If I complete a Mission Bridge School do I have to go on an outreach?
No. However you will learn in Mission Bridge that you have a mission field here in your own country. It could be your home, school, workplace, neighborhood…
Can I sign up to be a part of a Mission Bridge Missions Outreach?
Yes, you may sign up but acceptance is not automatic. We require all participants to be Mission Bridge School graduates. Also, there will be an extensive application and interview process. Each outreach has different needs, so people with different gifts will be invited for each one.
How much does a Mission Bridge Outreach cost?
It is impossible to have a uniform cost for each outreach. Outreach costs are determined by the mode and cost of travel, current fuel rates, amount of traveling within each country, room fees, value of the dollar, days in host country, food costs, special service projects, etc. However, a good ballpark figure for a ten day to two week short term outreach could average $2500 - $3100.
How often do you have outreaches?
Typically, we have one to two out-of-country outreaches every year. However, that is not automatic either. We try very hard to be led by the Spirit of God and go-- where He calls us to go-- when He calls us to go. That requires sensitivity to His voice and preparation for answering His call. Also, more people are being raised up as leaders and this could influence the number of outreaches and different countries we go to each year.
What countries do you go to?
We have been to India, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Russia, Fiji, and Ukraine. As stated before—we will go where God sends us.
Do you ever do outreach ministry in the United States?
Yes. We were a presence in New York after 9/11 and prayed for people on the streets where the towers went down. We also served with several local ministries in Brooklyn, Harlem, and the Bronx. There are a group of Mission Bridge graduate men who fellowshipped and served together by completing the YWAM Metro NY dormitory that will be used to house future missionaries in training. We also had a Prayer and Intercession Ministry in New Orleans a week before Mardi Gras and also supported the Crisis Pregnancy Center.
As we train more people and they become more available to GO, we would like to lead more stateside outreaches, especially at severe times of crisis.
Do you ever do outreach ministry in your community?
Yes. Currently we are serving the Refuge of Hope ministry can we link to them here? in Canton by taking the Prayer Station Ministry there every Monday and Friday and sharing a meal with and praying for the folks.
We also are taking our Prayer Station Ministry to the marketplace (city streets, local parks, community gatherings) on a regular basis.
Who are the outreach leaders?
For the last seven years, Cindy Mandrell led the larger team outreaches. However, now we are blessed to have several folks who have been on one or more outreaches in a leadership capacity, have been mentored and trained, and now are qualified to lead their own outreach to the country God has given them a heart for. This is exciting because it fulfills the Mission Bridge Ministries mission statement…to raise up people for works of service so the body of Christ may be built up.
Is there extra training for people going on an outreach?
Yes. After the Mission Bridge School I lecture phase is over, we have specific teachings in Mission Bridge II that not only facilitate team bonding but also teach the outreach specific principles of Giving Up Your Rights, Unity of Purpose, Cultural Sensitivity etc.
