Past Outreach

India

Pune and Calcutta India
In 1996, a life -ong belief of "someday" going to India as a missionary came true. Every YWAM Discipleship Training School puts into practice the principles they learn in the three month lecture phase on a two month outreach. The leaders of Cindy's DTS prayed and believed God called them to India. So, Cindy’s class went off to India. That was the beginning of a seven-year ministry of short-term outreaches.

There were several ministry foci during the first three years. We did a lot of prayer walking - asking God to change the culture of death and destruction. We also spent time with the untouchables "Dalits" and several deaf schools in Calcutta and Pune as well as doing street evangelism.

In Pune, we taught at the Maharashtra Fellowship for the Deaf. The most exciting fruit of that ministry was to explain via drama and sign who the person of the Holy Spirit is and how He speaks to us. We will never forget the eyes of the students and the excitement in their body language when the revelation of that happened andthey got it!

When Mission Bridge began in 1999, God called us to return to provide a discipleship and teaching ministry. We were invited to teach the principles taught in Mission Bridge Schools to the students in the Mark Buntain Bible College. Then for the next two years, a group of "Sisters in the faith" who attended a daily prayer meeting asked us to return to teach a full Mission Bridge School. As a result, their leader, Sister Gita Surendranath, was released to an International teaching, leadership training, and speaking ministry.

When the Sisters knew they were to release Gita, the leader they had depended on for so long to teach and disciple them, they knew God was challenging and calling them to stick their foot into the water of leadership themselves. That resulted in these city women birthing a ministry in the outlying villages of predominantly Hindus!
